EpiShare is a web-based platform for sharing biospecimens and/or datasets with the greater research community. EpiShare provides a central location for researchers to see summaries of National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Epidemiology Branch studies and specimen inventories, submit requests, and track all requestor correspondence.

This EpiShare website includes efficient and standardized search tools to provide access to, and maximize the scientific value of, summaries of stored specimens and data collected by the NIEHS Epidemiology Branch. The Branch researches known and potential environmental hazards to determine the effects of specific environmental exposures on human health. Scientists collect human biological and environmental samples to measure biological markers of exposure, susceptibility, or effect. In addition they collect questionnaire, survey, and other physical and environmental measurement and exposure data to support their research investigations. They share specimens and data to foster collaboration within the broader research community.

The NIEHS Epidemiology Branch has eight research groups with datasets and/or specimens available for research: Aging and Neuroepidemiology; Biomarker-based; Chronic Disease; Genetic, Environment, and Respiratory Disease; Molecular and Genetic Epidemiology; Pediatric Epidemiology; Reproductive Epidemiology; and Women's Health. Internal NIEHS or external qualified investigators use EpiShare to request access to NIEHS Epidemiology Branch datasets and/or biologic and environmental samples that may benefit their research.

This project has been funded in whole or in part with Federal funds from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract No. NO1-ES-55546.
